Orée was born from our observation that modern technology products look very much alike, are highly impersonal, made out of eco-unfriendly materials and are designed for rapid obsolescence.

We set out to do something different: create lasting & personal high performance technology objects primarily made of wood, the most natural, durable and renewable material on earth.

Orée is about reconciling tradition & novelty to create exceptional products through an exclusive combination of timeless woodworking techniques and cutting-edge technologies. All our products are eco-designed, crafted and hand-finished in France.

Blending cutting edge & timeless techniques

We combine cutting-edge milling technologies and timeless woodworking techniques passed down generation of French woodcrafters and cabinetmakers. Each Orée object is crafted, polished, oil-finished and assembled by hand in our workshop in southern France.

    FOUNDER AND CHIEF PRODUCT

    Julien imagined Orée and its objects. He leads the project and is responsible for all business-related activities. Julien has been scouting technology trends & disruptions across the globe both as an investor and as an entrepreneur for fifteen years. He had the idea for Orée when researching new materials and designs for technology products . He found out that wood was the perfect material for creating lasting & personal eco-friendly connected objects and decided to assemble a world class team to make this vision a reality.

    DESIGN GURU

    Franck is behind the distinctive curves & shapes of the Orée objects and sets the artistic direction of the brand. Trained at the prestigious French design school ENSCI, he was quickly drawn to noble materials and decided to focus his work on revisiting their intrinsic yet overlooked attributes to imagine distinctive objects like his "Coup de Scie" line which reveals the elastic properties of wood. He then built upon this theme by drawing remarkable craftsmanships into his creations and launched his own design studio in Barcelona in 2009.

  • — Christophe Della Signora —

    WOOD WIZARD

    Christophe transforms the Orée concepts into wooden reality and leads the crafting activities. His passion and talent for wood go back a long way: at 15, he starts the long and demanding Tour de France apprenticeship to become a master craftsman ("Compagnon"). Ever since, he has perfected his art working alongside talented woodcrafters and cabinetmakers. Lately, he opened his own woodworking workshop in Languedoc where he creates unique pieces that combine timeless & modern techniques and trains the next generation of woodcrafters.
